TYPE II DIABETES/PREDIABETES PROTOCOL

Berberine 500 mg twice per day has been shown to significantly reduce blood sugars and A1C in type II diabetics. Triglycerides and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol reductions have also been seen. It is usually well tolerated. Most common side effects are nausea and diarrhea. I do not recommend this product for pregnant women.

Magnesium supplementation in people with prediabetes or type II diabetes has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity. A therapeutic dose is 300 mg once to twice daily.

Turmeric in insulin resistant people, a small study showed that 180 mg of curcumin prior to a meal (breakfast) reduced blood sugar and insulin levels 61% and 26% respectively one hour after the meal.
